Benelux Union Treaty
The Benelux Union Treaty came into force on 1 November
1960.
It was accompanied by a convention containing the transitional
provisions and a protocol implementing
the provisions of the Treaty.
The convention containing the transitional provisions specified
the fields in which the Economic Union could not immediately
be realised and furthermore the periods and conditions for
abolishing the derogations to the final Treaty state.
The protocol implementing the provisions of the
Treaty determines the implementing rules for a
number of articles of the Treaty and the convention containing
the transitional provisions, either by referring to existing
conventions, or by adding new regulations.
