Benelux, France
and Germany couple their electricity markets
On the 6th of June 2007, the Energy Ministers of the Benelux,
France and Germany as well as the representatives of the
transmission system operators, the power exchanges, the
regulators and the market parties signed a Memorandum of
Understanding on market coupling and security of supply
in Central Western Europe (Benelux, France and Germany).
Jan van Laarhoven, Secretary-General of the Benelux, was
the privileged witness of the official handing over, by
the Ministers, of the signed document to the European Energy
Commissioner Andris Piebalgs during a summit meeting of
the Pentalateral Energy forum in the margins of the European
Energy Council in Luxembourg.
